Third Trimester and Trip to Nashville

So I am officially in my Third Trimester of Pregnancy. I will be 29 weeks Saturday so that leaves me with a little over 11 weeks until the arrival of this little one, give or take 2 weeks. Several post ago I shared the Birth Story of a very close friend of mine who delivered her daughter naturally at the Farm in Tennessee in a Breeched position. I shared that she was my inspiration and motivation. I often read her story to encourage me.

Anyway I am in Nashville this week visiting Maati the friend I mentioned above and it has been a great week! very relaxing and this trip has helped me come to a place I intend to be for the remainder of this pregnancy. If I could have any wish in this entire world it would be for Maati to be with me when I gave birth. It is actually something I have struggled with and suffered over because up until a few years ago she lived right up the street. I chose the birthing center I did because its where she had her first child. Any who I have constantly shared my thoughts, concerns and feelings with Maati and she made my trip amazingly special as a result. Maati is a very energy based and spiritual person she believes we all carry energy and tries to stay around positive energy. While here we had a gathering with a lot of the women in her circle all of which with the exception of 2 are mothers. The 2 who are not are expecting their first like me. At this time she took the opportunity to express with the expectant mothers but me in particular how it will be OK and I need to focus on getting my baby out because thats the most important thing and not who was there. She also gave me this necklace she carried with her the entire time she was pregnant and while in labor with her daughter. She said it meant alot to her and she was now giving it to me so I knew that if she was not physically there she was absolutely there in spirit. Needless to say this had me in tears. We all received well wishes and advice from the mommies already there and enjoyed a picnic. It was truly an amazing day for me! I also got some Henna on my belly which looks so cool I will add some pics.

Pregnancy wise I am feeling great. I have some times when I am completely uncomfortable but I mean thats expected and I am cherishing every moment of this pregnancy. I LOVE being pregnant, I LOVE watching my belly grow, I LOVE feeling my baby move....I LOVE everything about it and I am cherishing each and every moment of it. I took the 1 hour glucose test Tuesday that stuff tasted horrible! Hopefully I passed so I don't have to do the 3 hour. I am also now going to the Midwife every 2 weeks. We had a 3 D ultrasound the other day at 27 weeks and 4 days it was pretty cool although Alex was being very stubborn. This will likely be the last I see of baby before his big debut as Ultrasounds are not routinely at the birthing center and the ones we have had have been elective. I don't think I have any other updates for now I have 2 showers scheduled for May one on May 15th the other May 22 we are also taking Professional pics which is a gift from our wedding Photographer on May 9th so May is a Huge month for me!

I will be 26 in exactly 2 weeks and until about two seconds ago I kind of forgot my birthday was coming up lol. Needless to say I have nothing big planned at all. So we shall see!

Nursery Progress Pt 2!

So I still have tons of things to do but here are a few pictures of what I have gotten so far!

Now I KNOW thats not ANY of the bedding that I originally picked but I saw this and could not beat the price and I thought it was really cute. I loved the colors and it matched out Green walls. For a 10 piece set it was only $98.00 on Amazon.com the last set I decided on was $268 for 4 pieces, so I think this one definitely WON!!

The Chair is an IKEA Poang that we already had in our bedroom we just purchased a new cushion for it and I will buy the matching Ottoman. His name is a decal I bought from Etsy.com and the Dragon is the one I made at the pottery place I went to a few weeks ago. The yellow baby prayer was on my wall in my nursery when I was born and its one of the few things I have left that represent my mother so it is very special to me. Lastly the football is an official NFL football signed by the last Commissioner of the NFL. Amir LOVES that thing and he LOVES football so he couldn't wait to put it in Alex's room. I still have a great deal to do.

I need curtains and a rug, I am thinking blue??? Opinions are definitely welcomed! I want to get some baskets to put on the shelf of the changer I need about 6, 3 for each shelf. We need to purchase a dresser. I am trying to decide if I should get the dresser that goes with the crib and changer with is $350.00 or look for something cheaper that matches closely. If anyone has some suggestions on dressers or has an opinion on what I should do please share!!

Anywho thats the progress as of now! Baby is doing well I am currently 26 Weeks and 3 days! Alexander moves ALLL the time and I love feeling it and talking to him. I am convinced he already knows his mom really well. He always seems to move at the right times reminding me I need to calm down when I am stressed or take a breather when I am being extra emotional. I go for my next appt at 28 weeks and will have my Glucose test then...after that I am officially going every 2 weeks...Boy is time flying!!!

Upcoming Events: 3D/4D Ultrasound Next week!! March 24, 2 Showers May 15 and May 22 and Maternity Shoot May 9th.

I will definitely post pics after my ultrasound next week and I will Post the finishing touches to the nursery soon!

First day of Class

So As of Yesterday I am 24 weeks Pregnant! or 6 Months. Things have been going very well I feel pretty good and have no major complaints! Today we start our Bradley Class which is 12 weeks long and will be every Sunday from 530-730 from now through first week in May. I am very excited about it but I am sure you can imagine Amir is not lol. I think he will fine when we get there and he gets involved but as of now its like "school for 12 weeks" to him lol. The class actually started last Sunday but my "pregnancy brain" caused me to miss it. I had myself completely convinced that this week was the first week. Fortunately the teacher told me we did not really miss much just introductions and a few exercises we will go over again this week.

We have done A LOT of work on the nursery and I forgot to take before pics. I have one picture of before the room was painted which is this one.

But essentially before the room even got this far it had tan carpeting and was an Office so desk, TV Stand and a few bins with random stuff in it. Amir put in the wood floors himself which look amazing and he also put in the chair rail and we both painted the room the Green and Off White in these pics.

There is still some work to be done but I am so happy with what is done so far!!! I need to find curtains that go with our bedding and a rug if anyone has suggestions PLEASE share. We are going to put his name on the wall in wooden letters I am thinking the other color in the room will be a shade of blue thoughts? We are also putting Maps on the walls...Amir and I both like to travel and love history etc so we thought that fit into our personalities here are the maps.

I am thinking I want to put a wall quote about the world above the maps but I can't decide which quote I want to use yet. Top contenders are: Gandhi's "Be the Change you want to see in the world" or something from Dr. Seuss' Oh the Places We Go.

Lastly I went out with some friends last night and we went to this pottery place where you paint your own pottery naturally mind is all on Alex right now so I made him a Bank.

Now I know that there is ALWAYS the chance he will come early and be born before June but, I am hoping he is born in the month he is suppose to and if he is not I feel that date will always have a story behind it. That being said I didn't think it was a big deal to put the month and year.

Everything with the baby is going well he moves all the time and keeps me up at night here and there but it is OK and I take it in stride. He is kicking hard enough that Amir can feel him moving too which is always a fun thing! I have my 6 month appt on Thursday so I will update after that.

Lent

So today is Ash Wednesday and I need to decide what I am giving up for lent. I usually give up red meat but dont know if thats a good idea right now considering I need the protein in my diet. I really look at lent as an opportunity for me to work on me whether it be working towards a healthier lifestyle or working on bettering myself as a whole. This is a time to clean house so to speak.

I am thinking this year I am going to cut down on red meat maybe only eat it once a week. Continue with some things I gave up when I found out I was pregnant like caffiene and I am going make a commitment to alleviating stress. I have a lot of people in my life that I let stress me and overwhelm me with their problems and drama I think I am making a conscience effort today to leave that alone. I am also making a conscience effort to actively find a new job for next school year. This school has been the cause of ALOT of stress this year its time to move on.

Induction

I know everyone is different and I know all situations are different but this is exactly why I don't want to be induced:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eGekljoJPV0

Like I said I know everyone is DIFFERENT and I know the particular drug she was induced with is not a common used drug but it still scares the heck out of me. I am the type of person that sleeps HOURS to get rid of a migraine because I would rather take nothing. I just am not a huge fan of drugs and I feel being induced at times is so unnecessary. Induction is prematurely forcing your body to do something that it clearly is not ready to do. I would rather just wait until my body decides its ready. Alex will come when he feels like it.

Just my thoughts!

Nursery Progress

So since I have had 2 days off due to the 3 feet of snow that hit DC over the weekend I had some time to work on the nursery. Did not do much but I did put together the crib and changer and we started painting. We picked out a different bedding set:

Amir thought the other one was a bit too girlie in its design. So the walls are shade of green sort of along the lines of an olive green and a tan. Two walls of green Two walls of Tan. We are not but I promise to post pics tomorrow because hopefully we will be done then!

Thats all for updates currently. I am just tired and my back has been killing me lately. Alex has been moving here and there usually kicking right in my bladder. Regardless of where he is moving its ALWAYS nice to know he is there.

I promise I will get better with the updates!
